Homebound, but still plugging away
Okay, back to business.
The other day I got a very pleasant surprise. When I turned on the computer, I got a message that I should go to my website to check out my stats.
I said to myself “Oh sure,” figuring that it was just a routine thing – something they flash on a regular basis, as part of the service.
But I checked it out anyway, and discovered that I’d hit a spike. My eyes bugged out and I said “Holy Cow!” It was a new record.
I admit it wasn’t much by regular standards. Eighteen people had logged on and had checked out a total of 63 items. But that is a lot higher than the usual number of two or three people.
Hey, to you “two or three” folks, I really love you, believe me. You’re the foundation that’s keeping me going through all this. But it feels so good when I see more people logging on.
My first thoughts when I saw those figures was “What did I do?” Then I thought “How can I make it happen again?”
Sadly, I do not have those answers, because I would just love to keep it going.
Still, it is encouraging. It tells me I must be doing something right and if I persist maybe I can do even better.
Oh yeah, one more thing on this subject. I did some checking, and I found out that I’ve head people sign on from as far away as China and France. Only one from each country, mind you, but it makes me wonder…
As I mentioned earlier, I have to get the brakes on my car fixed, and it’s turning out to me a major headache. Something unexpected occurred for my mechanic, so he had to reschedule me to next week.
Sigh! I can do one of two things. I can gamble that what is left of my brakes will not give out while I’m driving. But because they can go without warning at any time, it could me that I will easily be in somebody’s lap while driving.
So, I’ve decided to take the safe route and stay at home. But that means I have to curtail my activities for getting videos and other items for the website.
Sometimes these things happen. There’s a time to gamble, and time to play your cards close the chest, and this time, I believe it’s best to play it safe.
So, I’m not going to have too much before the weekend. At that time, Zed will be here, and he can ferry me around.
Now, I do have a few things, and I will be posted them. Also, I can use the time to lay foundations for other things. For example, I am finally getting off my ass and writing another short story for the website. Now if only I could get some outside submissions to supplement things.
Also, I think I’m going to look into establishing a podcast. I think it would be fun, and something else to attract people.
All right, all right. I can hear you clamoring for it, so wait no more. It’s time for today’s bad joke!
